Wild Cardiff

Autumn at National Trust Dyffryn Gardens

Despite living so close to this National Trust property, I’d never been. And as autumn rolled in, the arboretum was calling, because nothing says autumn like walking through the trees.

I definitely recommend Dyffryn Gardens for a day of exploring gardens and wildlife only a short drive from Cardiff. Free for NT members or £9.60 an adult on the door for access to the gardens and house, we spent the whole day here wandering through the 55 acres of established arboretum and formal gardens, and swooning over the collection of plants in the greenhouses.

I also got to play with my new camera, so took an absolute boat load of photos around the gardens which I’ve displayed below. There was a great selection of champion trees, wildlife habitats and late flowering plants, which gave us plenty to photograph and enjoy watching.

Living wildly in Cardiff, Wales.
